Why do I need to backup?

In todays world, most businesses are dependant on a computer for some function or another. You may have your entire business dependant on a computer or you may just use a computer for e-mail. The question is, if you switched off your computer today and could't restart it, how would this affect your business?

What is your data worth?

Data loss can be very costly, particularly for organisations in the small and medium business (SMB) market where the difference between survival and closure can rest on the ability to recover from a disaster. At the very least, critical data loss will have a financial impact on companies of all sizes.
The financial impact on a company is a combination of loss of business, low productivity, legal action, and the cost of re-creating data. At its worst, critical data loss can result in business collapse. Studies by the National Archives and Records Administration showed that 80% of companies without well-conceived data protection and recovery strategies go out of business within two years of a major disaster.

Why do most small and medium businesses not have a backup strategy in place?

Research would suggest that a large number of small and medium businesses neither have the time available to complete the regular tasks or the in house skills to be able conceive, implement and maintain a suitable data recovery program.

What are the main causes of computer problems?
There are many ways in which a computer may fail to perform as normal:

 • Hardware failure - this is where the computer has a problem affecting normal use.
 • Computer Viruses can destroy valuable computer data and files.
 • User error - either intentional or not can be the cause of data loss.
 • Power spikes and surges can significantly damage your computer.
 • Environmental factors such as fires, floods etc. can destroy your computer.
 • Lost or stolen equipment.

What we offer

What we offer our customers is a complete backup solution. At a specified time we come onsite to your business and 'Clone' your entire computers hard disk drive. As the word 'Clone' emplies, we take an exact copy (or duplicate) of all your files, programs settings etc. This way, we can be sure that in the event of a disaster situation, we have a complete copy of everything that was on your computer. Once 'Cloned' the backup device containing the complete copy of your computer files is taken off site and stored in a secure location.

Why is a 'Clone' better than a backup?

The original way to save your data was to backup selected files to a tape device or CD Rom. The problem with this method is that if your computer failed, you needed to re-install your complete operation system, programs, settings etc. before you could then copy your backup files back onto your computer. If you have a problem and you have cloned your computer, you simply copy the data from the cloned device back to your computer and that's it. This cuts your downtime in the event of a disaster down to a matter of a few hours instead of days / weeks! The other advantage cloning has is that it takes a copy of every single file on your PC not a group of selected files removing the posibility of not backing up critical files.
